Hello, there! At some point, this profile will be prettier, but for now, it's going to be bland. Enjoy!

My name is Merry, but I go by Perhin online, and close friends and family call me 'Mer', which is short for 'Mermaid'; I sometimes call myself "The Mermaiden." I sign entries here as Perhin. ^_^ I turned thirty in August, and my long hair is already greying and I love it! I plan on never dying my hair, but if I do, it will be blue highlights. :D

My interests are:

♥ listening to too much Fleetwood Mac
♥ art (I like using GIMP and I can draw)
♥ music (I can play trumpet and piano, and I'm learning Native American flue, tin whistle, ukulele, and a bit on the ocarina)
♥ reading (I enjoy classic literature, fantasy, some sci-fi, non-fiction, history, and sometimes the occasional biography)
♥ studying religion for the fun of it (Buddhism intrigues me, Taoism fills me in, Omar Khayyam is a genius, the Bhagavad Gita is a great read, Manly P. Hall & Florence Shinn are awesome, and Gnosis is totally worth it! Oh, and I like to think of myself as a Taoist Methodist.)
♥ gaming (I like the old-fashioned Neverwinter Nights from the early 2000s, my coral pink Nintendo DS is my friend, I've lost at Zelda most of my life, and I'm thinking of picking-up text based RPGs)
♥ I'm trying to teach myself Japanese so I can watch anime and read manga without subtitles. Linguistics is a fun topic all around with me. ;D
♥ old black & white movies are so COOL. I love Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Audrey Hepburn is another favorite. Spencer Tracy, Rosalind Russell, and Gary Cooper are up there too.
♥ Tolkien is amazing.
